Cancer Support Group

  • St Clement's Community Hall 2 Eudunda Street Stafford, QLD, 4053 Australia (map)

Our group provides a warm and welcoming meeting place where men and women who have been diagnosed with cancer, as well as their families and friends, can join with others to build social and emotional support as an essential supplement to medical care.

We meet on the first Friday of each month, commencing at 10.00am in St Clement's Community Hall,

2 Eudunda Street, Stafford. Our services are offered to everyone - patient, relative or friend - FREE of charge.

Each session commences with morning tea followed by a special guest Speaker - a professional person in their particular field. A wide variety of topics are offered with a view to enhancing the quality of life for those who come to the group. Some recent topics have included: SAND TRAY THERAPY, REFLEXOLOGY, MEDITATION, GRIEF & LOSS OF YOUR HEALTH, NUTRITION, STRESS MANAGEMENT, TREASURE MAPPING, TAI CHI, RELAXATION, YOGA & COPING WITH YOUR EMOTIONS.

"Stafford Cancer Support Group is a very welcoming, informative group which I am very pleased to be a part of. The Speakers each month cover a wide variety of subjects and also there is a delicious morning tea hosted by a group of loving and generous people." Valerie Scriven.

"In 1998 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Two years after completing my chemotherapy and radiation treatments, I felt very alone, even though my family was very supportive. I realised that I needed help from someone who had been through a similar experience so I sought a Support Group. The Stafford Cancer Support Group was just what I needed. The warm welcome and willingness to listen and share their experiences has helped me to jump a hurdle and allow me to move on in a positive way. I thank the people behind the scenes who give their time to help people like me." Heather Badke.

"The Stafford Cancer Support Group "rescued" me during a desperately low period of my life. From the moment I tentatively attended my first meeting I was welcomed with such warmth and kindness I felt I belonged. I've made wonderful new friends who listen and care, and every meeting I gain help and information while enjoying a really fun time." Anon.
